Delta's 24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation lets you cancel any ticket bought directly from Delta on travel from the US within one day of purchase, for a full refund and no fee, Basic included. If the price drops in that window, book the cheaper fare first to lock it in, then cancel the original in My Trips.
Classic and Extra fares change with no fee on trips that start in the US or Canada. When the new price is lower, Delta gives you the difference as an eCredit. Online, the same flight does not always show at the lower fare, so asking an agent in chat to reprice the ticket is often the quickest route. Your seats and booking stay as they are.
Basic tickets bought since November 6, 2025 can be changed or cancelled for a fee. From the US or Canada it is $99 to the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Central America and $199 to everywhere else. A Basic drop only pays when it is bigger than that fee, and older Basic tickets can only be cancelled for credit.
After the first 24 hours the difference comes back as a Delta eCredit, not cash, unless you hold an Extra or refundable ticket, which you can cancel for a refund. An eCredit can be used until your original ticket expires, typically one year from the date you bought it, so plan to book your next Delta trip within that year.

From the US or Canada, Main Basic and Comfort Basic cost $99 to the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean or Central America and $199 elsewhere. First Basic is $300, Premium Select Basic $400 and Basic Business $500. Basic tickets bought before November 6, 2025 cannot be changed, only cancelled. No eCredit is issued if the fee is more than the ticket is worth.
