- Prepaid (Pay Now)
- A Pay Now rate cancels with no fee within 24 hours of booking. After that Hertz charges a cancellation fee, and its own documents disagree on the amount, so check the fee on your confirmation before you rebook. A prepaid no-show loses the prepayment.
- Price guarantee
- Hertz advertises a Best Rate Guarantee on some of its regional sites, but it covers new bookings made at least 72 hours ahead and claimed within 24 hours of booking, and it excludes existing reservations and other companies' rates. For a lower price on a reservation you already hold, rebooking is the route.
- Gold Plus Rewards
- Add your Gold Plus Rewards number when you book the lower rate, so the new reservation earns and gets member benefits like the old one.

- A Gold Plus Rewards points booking cancelled more than 24 hours after booking loses part of the points, so a points rental is rarely worth rebooking for a small drop.
