When the same car gets cheaper, a bigger car from the same company costs less, or another reputable company has the same class for less, you get an alert with the saving and the exact steps to rebook.
The same company, the same class of car, the same pickup location and the same dates, compared on the whole rental total rather than a per-day teaser rate. A cheaper car somewhere else, on other dates or in a smaller class doesn't count.
Sometimes a bigger car from the same company costs less than the one you booked, for example a standard SUV that has dropped below your midsize. Plot flags it as an upgrade you'd pay less for. A van, pickup or convertible never counts as an upgrade.
No. Plot tells you what to book and what to cancel, in that order: confirm the new reservation first, then cancel the original, so you always have a car. Your booking only changes when you change it.
Plot reads your cancellation terms and subtracts any cancellation fee from the saving, so you only hear about a drop that's still worth it after the fee. If your rate can't be refunded at all, there's no rebook to suggest, and Plot won't pretend otherwise.
Yes. Costco Travel rentals are one of the most common bookings Plot watches. Costco includes an additional driver with some companies, so when a cheaper rate elsewhere would lose that perk, Plot counts it before calling it a saving.
Rentals from the major companies, including Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, National, Alamo, Budget, Sixt, Dollar and Thrifty, whether you booked directly or on Costco Travel, Booking.com, Expedia or Priceline. Rentals paid with points aren't watched.
